New document

By default a new layout document will be created whenever IoTSim is launched. However, a new layout can also be created by clicking the 'new' button on the home tab of the ribbon. This new document will automatically create a Router and a Controller (see the Current Device List page for more info).

Save Layout

Pressing the save button will check if your layout is currently associated with a file saved to your computer. You can check this yourself by checking if the window title bar says "New Document" or if it contains the location of a file.

If the layout is associated with a file already, the save button will overwrite the file in the window title bar with the layout displayed in the program.

If the layout is not associated with a file already, the save button will open a Save File Dialog to prompt you to choose a location to save to.

Save As

By contrast, the 'Save As' button will always prompt you to save to a new location whenever you press it.

Open Layout

The 'Open' button will open an Open File Dialog to prompt you to choose a saved layout to open.

Note: IoTSim Layout files are saved as: *.iotl files.

Print Layout

This button will display the System Print Dialog which will allow you to print out your layout or convert it to a PDF.
