Getting Started

This page contains a guide on how to download and install IoTSim

1. Download IoTSim

Head to the IoTSim Homepage and click the download button.

Note: Currently only Windows is supported.

2. Extract the ZIP file.

Find the ZIP file that was downloaded and right click on it. Then select 'Extract All...'. Then click 'Extract' in the new window which opens.

3. Run the installer

Open the folder which was extracted from the ZIP file, inside here you will find a sample layout file which you can open in IoTSim and a folder containing the installation files. Open this folder and run 'Setup.exe'.

Note: Currently, Windows Defender may open a window informing you that it is protecting your PC. This message, for IoTSim only, can be ignored. Simply click on 'More info' then choose 'Run anyway'.

4. Install IoTSim

Once the installer has opened, it will ask you to choose either 'install' or 'don't install'. From here, select 'install'.

Success!

Once the installer has completed installing IoTSim, it will automatically launch the software. Congratulations, IoTSim is now installed on your machine!

Note, Windows Defender may once again open the 'Protect your PC' window upon launching IoTSim for the first time. Again, simply select 'More info' then choose 'Run anyway'.
